Social Media as It Should Be
If our traditional media landscape featured only a handful of owners, we would call it what it is: a threat to democracy. Yet that is where social media stands. In this Project Syndicate column, I explain how the Bluesky model — an open protocol that anyone can build on, rather than a platform that one company controls — could restore the original promise of the internet: a shared public space, governed in the interest of the people who use it.
