The Public Interest Internet
My talk at Web3 Summit 2024 at Funkhaus Berlin: what it would take to run the internet as public interest infrastructure rather than as a set of privately governed platforms.
Web3 Summit is an open, community-programmed gathering for advancing a functional, user-friendly decentralised web; the 2024 edition was held at Funkhaus in Berlin on 19–21 August. Speaking for IPFS, I made the case for a public interest internet: infrastructure that is governed for the people who depend on it, and what decentralised technologies have to offer — and still owe — to that goal. 25 minutes.
