Testifying before the Assemblée nationale on France’s digital dependencies
The Assemblée nationale set up a commission d’enquête on France’s structural dependencies and systemic vulnerabilities in the digital sector and the risks they pose to the country’s independence — the GAFAM in the MAGA era, as its report puts it. On 10 March 2026 I was heard by the commission, in a round table with David Chavalarias (CNRS) and Maud Quessard (IRSEM), following the audition of Henri Verdier. The recording is below.
The commission’s report (n° 3054, tome I, 453 pages, registered on 8 July 2026; Philippe Latombe presiding, Cyrielle Chatelain rapporteure) draws on the hearing in several places — on access to research, on the advertising market, on the position of small and medium-sized businesses, and on the risks of the digital omnibus.
