Airbus for AI: A Global Strategy for Public Value Creation
Frontier AI is concentrated in a handful of US and Chinese firms, and middle powers have struggled to field competitive alternatives despite heavy investment. In this policy brief for the Bennett School of Public Policy at Cambridge, Joshua Tan, Brandon Jackson, Diane Coyle, and I argue for an Airbus for AI: a Public AI Company built as a coordinated public-private partnership, with a credible business model and a path to scale, so that AI serves the economic and security interests of all countries rather than a few.
